Funded 4 year Integrated PhD in The Cell Biology and Immunology of Cancer

University of Southampton

The 4 year Integrated PhD offers you the opportunity to pursue a focussed research project within the context of a broader research experience.

In year 1 you will choose three laboratory rotations within the Cancer Sciences Division, which will give you the opportunity to work with our research groups who are at the cutting edge of tumour biology and immunology.  Lab rotations are supplemented with taught specialist and advanced research skills modules.  You will also learn diverse practical skills in a range of areas, which will help you make an informed choice about the project you will undertake over the following three years.  Year 1 is fully accredited and your progression is marked with the award of an MRes degree.

Years 2-4 comprises an in-depth research study in the subject area of your choice.  You will become a member of a research lab, led by one of our many expert scientists.

Studying high-quality basic science, delivered in a clinically relevant way, will enable you to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes required for a career in academia, health, industry and other related sectors.

Successful UK candidates will receive a full stipend equivalent to the current UK Research Council rate and a studentship to cover UK tuition fees.  Successful EU students will receive a studentship to cover tuition fees.
