Ethnicity and Health Programme

Fixed term 4 months.
We have an excellent opportunity for a GIS Officer to join our Ethnicity and Health Programme. The post holder will use GIS systems to map the findings from a project that examines the effect of neighbourhoods on ethnic differences in cardiovascular risk.
Your main duties will include collating and mapping the distribution of data, documenting all GIS data sets produced for the project, providing written and oral reports on progress for team meetings, providing analytic and administrative help with other areas of the project when required, and assisting with the mapping of findings from related projects on neighbourhoods and health in the Ethnicity and Health programme.
It is essential you have a good (1st or 2:1) honours degree in geography, environmental sciences or related discipline, and an MSc in GIS or related discipline. Experience in geocoding, calculating variables such as distance is essential. You should also have an understanding of GIS principles and applications, knowledge of Arcview and familiarity with the key UK geographic and social datasets.
This is a Medical Research Council Band 4 post with a starting salary between £26,022 and £31,758 pa pro rata.
