Decarbonising the Maritime Supply Chain project
Heriot-Watt University – Logistics Research Centre
School of Management and Languages
Salary: £28,839 – £33,432
The Logistics Research Centre has been awarded an EPSRC research grant to investigate the role of the shipper in reducing carbon emissions from the maritime supply chain. The LRC already has an international reputation for research on ‘green logistics’ and, in particular, the development of low carbon logistics strategies. The new project will extend this research into the maritime sector and involve collaboration with a range of companies using and providing international freight transport services. It will start in the spring of 2010 and last two years.
We wish to appoint a full-time research associate to work on this project, under the supervision of Professor Alan McKinnon and Dr. Dong-wook Song. Candidates should have a PhD or MSc in logistics / supply chain management and experience of conducting research in a university, government or business environment. They should have excellent communication and numeracy skills and be able to interview senior managers, construct large spreadsheet models and write research papers. Knowledge of the maritime transport sector and methods of carbon auditing would be advantageous, but not essential.
