As part of its continuing development, the School of Law and Government intends to appoint a number of posts in the area of Politics/International Relations

The appointments will commence on the 1st September 2010

Applications from candidates with demonstrated academic research expertise and university lecturing experience in any area of politics / international relations will be welcomed.  However the school has particular needs in the following areas and that may be a factor in short-listing and final selection – international security and conflict studies; the politics or political economy of development; international political economy or the comparative politics of Asia, Africa or Latin America.

The successful candidates will be expected to make an important contribution to the research and teaching profile of the School.  Applicants for the 5 year posts must have a Ph.D. with particular relevance to the post.   Applicants for the one year posts must have a PhD or be near completion with particular relevance to the post.  All applicants must have experience of teaching and research in these fields in a full-time capacity in a university environment and must have a demonstrated commitment to publication in well regarded academic journals. The school is committed to high quality research and supports its staff in such work.

The successful candidates will be expected to play a role in the development and delivery of the School’s taught programmes: the BA in Economics, Politics and Law, the BA in International Relations, the MA in International Relations, the MA in International Security and Conflict Studies and the MA in Development.

Salary Scale:             Lecturer above bar: €50,159 – €81,403

Lecturer below bar: €41,502 – €51,724
