University of Stirling – Stirling Management School, Accounting & Finance Division
£29,705 – £52,086 p.a.
As part of a substantial and sustained programme of investment in new staff to further enhance its research and teaching expertise, Stirling Management School wishes to make up to three full-time permanent appointments within its Accounting & Finance Division. There is at least one post available in accounting and one in finance, with the location of the third lectureship to be finalised following the interviews. For this third post (whether in accounting or finance), a willingness to teach in both accounting and finance curriculum areas would be an advantage (but is not crucial). Applications are invited from candidates with a passion for research, preferably in one of the division’s existing areas of excellence in accounting. Research interests with potential for collaboration with colleagues in the division and/or the Stirling Management School are desirable. Further information about the desired personal characteristics is provided in the further particulars.
For the Lectureship in Accounting, successful candidates will either have a publications record or be able to demonstrate the potential to produce research of a high standard. They will have the ability to teach effectively at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, develop teaching materials, and perform related administrative/course management duties. A willingness to teach in the management accounting area would be an advantage (but is not crucial). A good honours degree and a relevant PhD, or very nearly-completed PhD, are required.
For the Senior Lectureship in Accounting, successful candidates will have a portfolio of recent academic research output that would be judged as meeting the Research Excellence Framework proposed criteria of international excellence, and evidence of planned future development of research outputs and research profile. They will have a good honours degree and a relevant PhD, as well as a desire to supervise PhD students and to obtain research grant income. They will also have evidence of effective teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, of undertaking administrative duties, and ability to take on leadership roles in research and teaching.
