The School invites applications for 3 scholarships for research towards a PhD in any area of Psychology that falls within the research interests of members of the Applied Psychology group. Scholarships will be awarded for one year in the first instance, renewable for up to two further years subject to satisfactory progress. They will be up to £13K in value, including fees (at the home/EU or overseas rate) and a stipend. Further support may be available through paid teaching duties.
The Applied Psychology group at Heriot-Watt was established in 2003, and has a rapidly growing research profile in three areas: Relationships and Well-being; Applied Cognition and Vision; and Cognitive Development and Education. It is supported by a suite of laboratories equipped for a wide range of experimental research, and by excellent library and computing facilities. Successful applicants will have a good first degree, or a Masters degree, in Psychology, or in another relevant discipline, and will be expected to take up scholarships in September 2010.
