A post-doctoral position, funded by Unilever, is available to work with Professor Robert Glen on a bioinformatics project to develop and implement new methods for de-noising, clustering and analysis of meta-genomic data from bacterial populations. Recent developments in the science of meta-genomics allows the collection of very large data sets on the makeup of these communities.
We propose to develop novel high performance algorithms and to investigate the use of Graphics Processing Units (GPU’s) in the acceleration of the calculations. Applicants should have (or be about to receive) a PhD in mathematics, computer science or a related sciences, and must have experience of writing computer software and with a strong interest in algorithm development.The post is available immediately.
