Postdoctoral Research Assistant
Durham University – Department of History
£29,704 per annum
We are appointing 5 postdoctoral research assistants to work on a 4 year Leverhulme Programme Grant: Tipping Points – mathematics, metaphors and meanings. Two will research rapid environmental change on the North Atlantic seaboard. Two will research historical and current financial crises. One will research how ‘Tipping Points’ has become adopted as a metaphor. All will work in a pan-Durham interdisciplinary team including scientists, social scientists and arts and humanities researchers.
The successful applicant will undertake historical and financial research, including statistical analyses and involving hard copy, online and fieldwork sources, one outcome of which will be the compilation of a database detailing bank financial profiles. The intention is to better understand the circumstances that surround financial crises and assess the extent to which the ‘tipping point’ analogy can be applied.
