A Research Assistant or Research Associate with skills in interdisciplinary research in ICT innovation is required by the Manchester eResearch Centre, based at the University of Manchester. MeRC carries out interdisciplinary research into the applications and adoption of e-Infrastructures. More information about MeRC can be found at .
The post-holder will join a small project team spanning MeRC, the University Library and Research Computing Services that is developing a pilot data management service for biomedical researchers at the University of Manchester. The post-holder will be responsible for investigating users requirements for data management infrastructure services, processes and tools.
Applicants should have a good honours degree in a relevant subject area. They must have excellent communication and presentational skills. Experience in the use of interviews, questionnaires, focus groups and observation-based research methods is essential. The ability to translate fieldwork findings into a variety of forms of output relevant to IT systems development is desirable, as is familiarity with data management concepts and the principles of distributed IT infrastructure.
This will be a fixed-term appointment, from 1 November or the earliest possible date until 31 March 2011.
Salary
Research Assistant: £24,152 – £27,998 p.a Research Associate: £28,839 – £31,514 p.a
