The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary will be £31,620 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Centre for Medical Image Computing has two postdoctoral positions in the area of image guided liver surgery and in colon cancer detection. One post is funded for 24 months and the other for 36 months. Both projects will involve image registration, motion and soft tissue modelling. Both projects will involve development of new algorithms, assembly of system for trialling in the clinical environment with close involvement of clinical groups at UCH and beyond. The main duties of the posts are:
- To carry out research in image guided liver surgery (a 24 month post) and colon cancer detection (a 36 month post)
- To develop algorithms for image registration, motion modelling and soft tissue motion
- Assembly of an image guidance surgical system for use in a clinical environment.
Key Requirements
A PhD in a relevant field, engineering, maths, computer science, physics etc. Experience of a scientific research project. Extensive experience in scientific programming in C/C++ or similar. Experience in writing peer reviewed scientific journal papers. Demonstrable aptitude for research. Ability to work without close supervision and as part of a team.
