As part of a large Nanotechnology for Healthcare project, the RF will develop the microfluidic biofunctionalization and blood sample delivery as well as the electronic read-out systems of an integrated silicon nanowire biosensor platform for on-chip medical diagnostics.
We are looking for a scientist/engineer with a PhD and experience in biosensors, bioelectronics, microfluidics, or a related field. The ability to work as part of a highly interactive interdisciplinary research team will be essential.
The nanowire field effect transistors and test samples will be supplied by other project partners who have expertise in microfabrication, biochemistry and conventional analysis of blood samples.
The University has recently invested £100M in a new clean room complex, housed in ECS and managed by the Nano Group, which is furnished with state-of-the art equipment for micro/nanofabrication and characterization. This includes a clean room specifically designed for the development and testing of bio-microdevices. The University is investing a further £50M in a new Institute for Life Sciences which will provide a suite of new laboratories, including a large custom bioelectronics lab for research at the interface between the physical and the life sciences. You will have full access to both facilities. More information is available at and
