Multi-Physics Computer Modelling For Turbo-Machinery
University of Surrey – Faculty Of Engineering And Physical Sciences
Mechanical, Medical, and Aerospace Engineering
Ref: 7488
Salary: £28,983 – £35,646 per annum (subject to qualifications and experience)
A Research Fellow opportunity exists for a suitably qualified candidate to the above post. This is 2 year, full time post, available from 1st April 2010 (or as soon as possible thereafter).
The post will be held in the Rolls-Royce funded University Technology Centre in Thermo-Fluid Systems at the University of Surrey. The post will involve considerable interaction with the Rolls-Royce Aerothermal Methods team and you must also be willing to travel frequently to Rolls-Royce sites in Derby and Bristol.
You will work on the development of multi-physics computer modelling for turbomachinery applications, involving both Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element (FE) codes. This post is part of a large group of related projects funded by Rolls-Royce and the Engineering Technology Strategy Board.
You will possess a PhD degree in Engineering or Mathematics, and will ideally have a background in CFD or FE code development and some experience of parallel programming. Experience in the application of either CFD or FE to turbo-machinery would be an advantage.
You should be self-motivating and an effective communicator.
