Silicon Photonics CMOS Design

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow in the Electronic Systems and Devices Research Group within the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. You will work on a multidisciplinary project funded by EPSRC to develop CMOS and BiCMOS integrated circuits to operate with photonic devices.

The position will be part of an interdisciplinary consortium consisting of four UK universities for the research into integration of Silicon with Photonics devices.

The main aim of this part of the project is to design and implement CMOS circuits to operate with very high speed (>20GB/s) Photonic Devices.

A good first degree and PhD in electronic or computer engineering, or other relevant discipline is required. Experience of IC Design, CMOS implementation, RF Design, Use of the Cadence flow are all essential. An ability to work across subject boundaries, experience in one or more of the areas including Photonics and CMOS IC design plus a desire to work within a multi-disciplinary team are all desirable skills.

The post is funded for up to two years and will start in April 2010.
