Starting salary: £36,716, rising annually to £45,156
The Westminster Institute of Education enjoys a growing international reputation for research and provides outstanding education and training. It is one of the largest schools of education in the UK. The Institute is seeking to make a number of appointments to consolidate its excellent reputation for teaching and its growing research profile.
You will be responsible for:
- leading the subject area within the designated phase (e.g. English in the Secondary PGCE)
- undertaking teaching responsibilities
- supervising and assessing student teachers
- contributing to curriculum design and delivery
- undertaking research that enhances the postholder’s and the Institute’s academic profile, producing national and potentially international quality publications, seeking funded research opportunities and submitting papers to conferences
- undertaking and leading curriculum development work
- supervising and assessing students’ projects and dissertations and students engaged on higher degree work by research
You should have:
- a higher degree in a relevant subject area (e.g. English or Education). Where you do not have a PhD/EdD or are not yet in the process of completing one, you must be committed to undertaking a PhD/EdD on appointment
- qualified teacher status (QTS)
- substantial and successful experience of school sector teaching in the designated subject area and phase
- evidence of some leadership or co-ordination
- evidence of being a committed and active researcher with a publication record commensurate with current stage of academic career
- a desire to shape the future of the teaching profession from within HE
- a successful and satisfactory check received from the Criminal Records Bureau, after interview and before appointment
