The Stockholm Environment Institute at the University of York is recruiting a Senior Research Associate to work on the Centre for Low Carbon Futures’ research project: ‘Towards a Low Carbon, Climate Resilient Regional Economy’.

This is a two year post funded through the Centre for Low Carbon Futures. The role will be to develop the methods to undertake an economic analysis of the impacts of, and adaptation to, climate change and also of mitigation scenarios in the Yorkshire and Humber region as part of a wider project led by the University of Leeds. The role will be located within the SEI offices on the University of York campus. It will form a focal point for SEI’s contribution to the Towards a Low Carbon, Climate Resilient Regional Economy project within the CLCF.

This is a research focussed post in which you will be expected to undertake collaborative projects and develop research jointly with teams of researchers within the project from the University of Leeds and the University of Hull. You will work in close collaboration with other PDRAs employed within these universities under the project to deliver a body of research that can inform regional policy and private sector development.  You will also contribute to the development of modelling approaches that can estimate costs of adaptation and mitigation using data available at regional scales, including the regional econometric models, and provide the best knowledge to decision making in the light of data and method-dependent uncertainties.

Salary will be within the range: £35,469 – £43,622 per annum on grade 7.

This York-based post is available full time, however reduced hours may be considered.  The post is initially available for two years.
