The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £35,415 – £38,441 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The department is renowned throughout the world for the innovation of its research and teaching. We are seeking to appoint a teaching fellow to assist with the teaching and organisation of our Civil and Environmental Engineering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and to participate in the general activities of the department’s geotechnical group, during a period of leave.

The post is available for one year (teaching cover) in the first instance commencing in September 2010.

The successful candidate will have relevant expertise in soil mechanics or geotechnical engineering, good organisational skills, an understanding and empathy with the needs of our students and the determination to make a positive impact. He/ she will be primarily responsible for teaching Critical State Soil Mechanics, constitutive soil modelling, plasticity methods and leading laboratory classes, and participating in associated group and departmental activities.

We are seeking to make an appointment in time for the successful candidate to be in post by September or October 2010.
