Salary: 27,319-35,646 pa
The funds for this post are available until 30th September 2013 in the first instance.
Applications are invited for a skilled Bioinformatics Research Associate to investigate the regulation of chromatin in transcription and post-transcriptional processes and to contribute to the analysis of genome-wide RNA interference screens in C. elegans.
The role will involve the tracking, processing, and analysis of array and massively parallel sequence, RNAi data, and their integration with other genomic data.
The successful candidate will work closely with data generators and be integrated into in a lively research laboratory (http://www.gurdon.cam.ac.uk/~ahringerlab) that is part of the modENCODE consortium (http://www.modencode.org/). A sound understanding of molecular biology and experience in computational techniques used in its analysis is essential. This should include an understanding of statistics and its application to large data sets. A significant part of the post will involve handling and analysing deep sequencing data, so experience in this area would be an asset.
Informal enquiries can be made to Dr Julie Ahringer (ja219@cam.ac.uk). Full applications, including a completed CHRIS/6 (see http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/hr/forms/chris6/) a covering letter, C.V. and contact details of two referees, should be emailed or sent to: Christine Turner, The Gurdon Institute, Tennis Court Road, Cambridge CB2 1QN (c.turner@gurdon.cam.ac.uk).
An initial contract of 3 years will be offered to the successful candidate with potential for renewal, depending on circumstances at the time of review.
