University of Dublin, Trinity College Lectureship in Qualitative Research Methods

One-year, part-time contract on a 40% basis
The School of Social Work and Social Policy seeks to make a one-year part-time Lecturer appointment in Qualitative Research Methods.
The vacancy arises due to the award of a one-year IRCHSS research scholarship to the current post-holder.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. and relevant research experience in conducting applied research projects, and should have relevant teaching experience.
The successful candidate will be required to teach and examine Qualitative Research Methods on the taught postgraduate M.Sc. in Applied Social Research, and undertake postgraduate supervision over the summer months. In addition, the appointee will be expected to co-ordinate work placements for students in Hilary term.
The appointment, which will be tenable from 1st September, or as soon as possible thereafter, will be offered on the salary scale at a point to accord with qualifications and experience to date.
Standard duties of the post
The successful candidate will be expected to deliver the lecture course in Qualitative Research Methods to students taking the M.Sc. in Applied Social Research. Duties will include:
- Teaching the Qualitative Research Methods course
- Facilitating the workshops on qualitative research methods and assess student coursework
- Supervising and examining M.Sc. dissertations
- Co-ordinating student work placements

Qualifications
ESSENTIAL: Ph.D. in a Social Science
Knowledge and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience of working on applied research projects
- Experience in teaching research methods
- A track record of research and publications or clear potential
- The ability to work as part of a team
