The renowned Roslin Institute has joined forces in April 2008 with researches from the UK’s leading veterinary school, the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, University of Edinburgh to create a new world leading research organisation in animal sciences.

The Neuropathogenesis Division of The Roslin Institute works extensively in the field of Neurodegenerative diseases of animals and humans associated with protein misfolding and aims to support and extend this programme by gaining expertise in new areas of Neurobiology.

The post holders will have an extensive reputation in the research field of neuroscience and an expertise in basic neurobiology or neurodegenerative diseases would be an additional benefit. The post holder will be making a demonstrable impact in their field at an international level and have proven research strategies and the skills to design, plan and develop a lead programme of high quality research in this field.




Appointment will be offered at Senior Research Fellow/Reader level according to experience (UE9: annual salary of £46278 to £52,086 for 35 hours each week) in exceptional circumstances where an applicant demonstrates significant potential but does not yet have the necessary career profile to merit appointment at the higher level the Institute will consider offering a Career-Track Fellowship appointment (UE8: annual salary of £36,523 to £42,622 for 35 hours each week).

The Institute may provide start-up support to enable appointees’ to establish their new research teams, which could include the sourcing and purchasing of equipment, consumables and provision of a research support post.
