This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to gain valuable work experience with one of the top 12 e-commerce providers in the UK to facilitate business intelligence, using data mining technology, E-commerce software technology and product development.
This 2 year post has been created as a result of a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between Web Marketplace Solutions Ltd and the University of Hull, Department of Computer Science. The successful applicant will work closely with the company’s directors and senior management team plus University academic staff to introduce business intelligence into the company’s Online Trading Architecture. This will involve the investigation and development of marketing strategies using data mining to provide a business intelligence decision support tool. The Associate will build the following skills and management competencies during the programme;
- In-depth understanding of data mining methodologies and techniques, with a specific knowledge of the issues associated in applying them in the project domain.
- Understanding of decision support applied to E-commerce
- E-business perspective on the understanding of applied artificial intelligence
- Project management and improved team-working, communication, planning and management skills.
Web Marketplace Solutions Ltd (), situated in the attractive market town of Beverley, is an expanding company providing large and sophisticated business clients with an ‘Online Trading Architecture’ – an internet environment from which they can create and manage content and sales campaigns.
This KTP is part of a national Government supported initiative sponsoring partnerships between business and universities which enable graduates to work on challenging, high profile projects (). This project will be fully supported with expertise from the University’s Department of Computer Science and Business School Marketing Department and the Associate will be offered a personal development and training plan including, where appropriate, support for a Postgraduate qualification.
The successful applicant will be an honours graduate (with a minimum of a 2.1) or postgraduate from a computing (with A Level Mathematics) or mathematical related discipline (with strong computer skills) or a graduate with equivalent work experience who has good interpersonal skills and experience, is target driven, self motivated and a team player. Experience of, and expertise in .net, XML/XSL, SQL, SYSGL, C# programming, ASP.net, XML/XSL, CSS, AJAX, SGL, MYSGL, Data Mining or Artificial Intelligence and E-Commerce would be a definite advantage.
Depending on qualifications and experience, the earnings package will be up to £28,000 per annum and also provide the option of entering into a final salary pension scheme.
