Centre for Cultural and Industrial Technologies Research
University of Portsmouth – Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries
This studentship is located in the Centre for Cultural and Industrial Technologies Research, part of the Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries. Research in CiTech falls mainly into two strands: the application of advanced computer-based technologies in a wide range of domains (healthcare, defence & security, education, entertainment, knowledge management, science etc.); and research into the creative technologies themselves, and their impact on society.
A desired ability of cognitive models of human agents is to rapidly learn an opponent’s tactics and strategy, and if these change, to quickly ‘unlearn’ tactics and strategies that are no longer being used and learn the new ones.
This project will look at producing models that incorporate learning by reflection – a form of meta-cognition that will allow such a model to learn by reflecting on its performance and adjusting its behaviour accordingly.
